it really computes some before climbing them…
the new gait allows more off-road
4 new gaits are stored, Tall grass, Tile floor, Body low, Default preset.
to each preset it’s possible to add ‘extra tibia lift’, the result is a bit funny but allow to walk in tall grass or pass over roots/branches

the pan servo is always looking the walking direction, 2 IR sensors are back to back on the tilt servo, the tilt servo is looking near at low speed and far at high speed.

Hey.. I modified my Lynxmotion Extreme Hexapod III to be able to sense the terrain through “Touch Sensors” or, in other words, micro switches pulled from computer mice, here are the details how I made them for every leg..

The brain is the glorious Parallax Propeller, on a custom made board… but the Propeller Proto board also fits nicely…

Using the gumstix with Wifi Stick and Robostix I now have a Wifi/Linux controller for my Lynxmotion BRAT. Here is my initial Servo test. I did a SSH connection to the gumstix from my Desktop – the gumstix connected to my network via WiFi, I can easily send SSC-32 commands via /dev/ttyS0 (the FFUART output from the Robostix) and control the 2 servos.

For more information on this build check out our forum. http://www.lynxmotion.net/viewtopic.php?t=5224 The torso servo is a 475, were replacing it with a 645 to stop the oscillations. The BRAT as a base makes this almost too easy. Walking, torso, guns and laser pointer are all controlled from the Bot Board II / Basic Atom Pro and the wireless PS2 controller.
