What programming language is used in making a Humanoid Robot like Asimo?

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Can C++ or Turbo Pascal or Visual Basic program a robot to walk, dance and other simple things a human can do?

I don’t know what was used however, I would go with something that can give you a small footprint on the disk. Turbo Pascal is one, C/C++ is another. Visual Basic or anything that creates a GUI is not necessary and in fact, probably counter productive in this case.

I’d use something like PureBasic, PellesC, or anything that can compile to machine code without unneeded libraries.

The answer to the question is "Yes" though. Anything that can control the ports to where the servos are attached can be used to program it.

Will humans and humanoid robots be indistinguishable on the street 500 years from now?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Let’s say they looked, acted, and felt the same, could engage in conversations normally, and even affect emotions.

If you lived 500 years in the future and there were robots walking around which were indistinguishable from humans, would it bother you?
I mean tactilely felt the same. I hadn’t considered emotions . .

500 years from now the earth will be in the middle of resetting itself after another ice age.

Who out there believes in modern day humanoid creatures?

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Nah? You never know whats out there until you find it. Have you ever even thought about it? Humans arent the only creatures on this earth nor are they the smartest or the best. And those who think you are? Get your selfish face outta here cause no one wants ya.

i think their could be things that are smarter then we are. im not being a butt face like the others. i think there may be things we cant see, every day moving faster and more efficiently. maybe they are just smart enough to keep them selves hidden?

Who can give me a list of humanoid mythical creatures?

Monday, May 17th, 2010

I want relatively unusual ones. Not wizards, vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, fairies, and elves. My two favorites are nagas and banshees. I am repeating they must look like humans. The longest list gets 10 points.

Dunno, but in a couple of hundred years people will scare their kids with tales of George W Bush and Tony Blair.Throw in Barack Obama and you get the witches from MacBeth . . . . . .

What are the odds that an Intelligent alien race would be humanoid?

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

In most movies and TV shows the aliens are portrayed as humanoid, however out of the multitude of species that have existed on earth, only one, humanity, has been humanoid. It’s highly unlikely that any alien race would be humanoid, but how unlikely? Could it be possible that somewhere nearby there could be a humanoid alien race?

I look at it from another way. Humans are the sum of all the failed life before us. It seems to me that to actually survive the eons necessary to become technologically and culturally advanced, you’d need some key human features.

Life would have to form under conditions far different then our own for some kind of insectoid or reptile man to be the peak of sapient evolution. I think we humans evolved the way we did because of the challenges of the environment. We’re the only species that has evolved to be a blank slate capable of changing or adapting to nearly any environment, while the others are completely dependent on an ideal environment they were designed for. Take that away and they go extinct quickly.

In a nutshell, hands with opposable thumbs = good, Claws = bad.
